01 · Overview

Diagnose, treat, then rebuild.

Athletic injuries rarely start where they hurt. A restriction in one joint changes how the next one loads, and over time that compensation becomes the injury you notice. Dr. Schaffer's sports medicine training is focused on diagnosing what actually happened and why, rather than treating the loudest symptom.

Treatment combines chiropractic adjustments with soft tissue work including myofascial release, cupping, scraping and trigger point techniques, then moves quickly into loading. Activation drills and therapeutic exercise are used to improve the effect of hands on care and to make the change durable.

With 25 years of dance experience alongside her clinical training, Dr. Schaffer has an unusually detailed understanding of how bodies move, compensate and heal, which shapes how return to sport is progressed.

Improving movement patterns builds resiliency to move through injury and beyond, not just in the studio, but in life.
02 · What To Expect

How care works, step by step.

Every plan is individual, but the path through care follows the same principles: understand first, treat precisely, then build strength that lasts.

01

Diagnosis

A full body evaluation to identify the injured tissue, the movement pattern behind it and the restrictions contributing further up or down the chain.

02

Manual therapy

Adjustments and soft tissue work to restore joint motion and address the tissue quality limiting your movement.

03

Progressive loading

Activation drills and therapeutic exercise that rebuild capacity in the positions your sport actually demands.

04

Return to sport

A graded plan back to full training, with self care tools to reduce the risk of the same problem returning.

03 · Who It Helps

What we work with

Overuse injuries

Repetitive strain from training volume, technique or load that has not been managed.

Joint restriction

Limited motion at the ankle, hip, thoracic spine or shoulder that forces compensation elsewhere.

Muscle strain and tightness

Soft tissue restriction addressed with myofascial release, cupping, scraping and trigger point work.

Movement compensation

Asymmetries and faulty patterns that quietly limit output and lead to recurring injury.

Athletic recovery

Maintenance work between training blocks, competitions and heavy sessions.

Return to training

A structured, progressive path back after injury rather than an abrupt return.

07 · Questions

Frequently asked.

Do you treat athletes at every level?

Yes. The approach is the same whether you compete, train recreationally or simply want to keep doing the activity you love without pain. What changes is how return to activity is programmed.

How is this different from general chiropractic?

The evaluation and treatment are the same foundation, with more emphasis on diagnosing the injured tissue, understanding the demands of your sport and progressively loading you back to those demands.

Can Pilates be part of rehabilitation?

Often, yes. Clinical Pilates on reformer, tower and chair is an effective way to load the deep core and stabilizers with control, which is why chiropractic and Pilates are offered together here.

How long does recovery take?

That depends on the tissue involved, how long the problem has been present and the demands you are returning to. You will be given a realistic picture at your evaluation and it will be reassessed as you progress.

What if I need imaging or another specialist?

If your presentation calls for imaging or falls outside chiropractic scope, Dr. Schaffer will tell you and refer you appropriately rather than continuing treatment that is not indicated.
